CBB Stats Privacy Policy

What CBB Stats collects, why, and how to have it removed. Effective 24 August 2026.

Summary

CBB Stats collects as little as it can. Browsing the site requires no account and sends no personal data to us beyond what any web server sees. Creating an account stores a username and either a password hash or a Discord identifier. We do not sell or share personal data with advertisers.

What we collect

  • Server logs: IP address, user agent, requested URL and timestamp, used for rate limiting and abuse prevention and retained for no more than 30 days.
  • Accounts: a username, a bcrypt hash of your password (never the password itself) or, for Discord sign-in, your Discord user id and username. Nothing else from your Discord profile is stored.
  • Things you save: watchlist entries and comments you post on player pages, attached to your account.
  • Session: a signed token kept in your browser's sessionStorage for eight hours; it is cleared when the tab closes or you sign out. No tracking cookie is set by the site itself.
  • Analytics: Google Analytics and PostHog record page views and basic interaction events with a randomly generated identifier, so we can see which features are used. Both may set cookies or local-storage keys under their own policies.

Third parties

The site is hosted on Railway behind Cloudflare, with data in MongoDB Atlas. Sign in with Discord uses Discord's OAuth service; no Discord message content is accessed. Player headshots load from the schools' athletics sites or ESPN, which see your IP address when the image loads.

Your choices

  • Delete your account and everything attached to it by opening an issue or contacting the maintainer via the contact page; deletion is completed within 14 days.
  • Block analytics with any content blocker; the site works without them.
  • The API is anonymous: no request to /api needs an account unless it reads or writes your own watchlist.

Children

The site is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from them.

Changes

Material changes to this policy are announced on this page with a new effective date. Questions go to the contact page.
